SHANGHAI – Buick today debuted the production version of the all-new Electra L7, marking another milestone in the brand’s expansion into China’s rapidly growing new energy vehicle market. The intelligent luxury extended-range electric sedan is now available at Buick showrooms nationwide. Customers who place orders before September 28 can enjoy an early-bird program that includes lifetime free maintenance.
Measuring 5,032 mm in length, 1,952 mm in width, 1,500 mm in height, and with a 3,000 mm wheelbase, the Electra L7 positions itself firmly in the C-segment luxury sedan category. Its sleek fastback silhouette is complemented by frameless doors, hidden door handles, and 20-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the spacious cabin features a floating island-style dashboard, premium Nappa leather, and four-zone suspension seats with a double 120-degree zero-gravity function for the front passenger. A 27-speaker Buick Sound system with headrest speakers and active noise cancellation delivers an immersive, concert-hall-level audio experience.
The Electra L7, constructed on Buick’s innovative “Xiao Yao” super architecture, incorporates industry-leading EREV technology, advanced driver assistance systems, and sophisticated smart cabin features.
At its heart is the “Zhen Long” range-extender system, developed with General Motors’ global expertise and the Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center’s local R&D capabilities. Featuring a 252 kW single-motor design – the most powerful in its class – the system delivers performance on par with a 3.0L V6 turbo engine. The Electra L7 sprints from 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, and accelerates from 80-120 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. Even when the battery is depleted, performance remains virtually unchanged, with a difference of less than 0.1 second. Engine engagement noise is reduced to below 0.5 dB, ensuring a smooth and quiet drive.
The Electra L7 offers a pure-electric range of 302 km and a combined range of 1,420 km on a full charge and tank, meeting the daily needs of most urban commuters for an entire week without recharging. It supports 130 kW DC fast charging, enabling the battery to charge from 30% to 80% in just 18 minutes.
The model is powered by a hybrid-dedicated battery. Designed for longevity, the battery retains the majority of its capacity even after 640,000 km of operation.
The chassis combines a front double-wishbone and rear five-link suspension with six ball joints – a first in its class – along with RTD continuous damping control to deliver both premium ride comfort and dynamic handling.
On the intelligence front, the Electra L7 debuts “Xiao Yao Zhi Xing” assisted driving system, powered by Momenta’s end-to-end reinforcement learning R6 Flywheel Big Model. It supports urban Navigate on Autopilot (NOA) and one-touch valet parking. In-cabin computing is driven by the latest Qualcomm SA8775P chip, delivering 72 TOPS of AI performance.
A 50-inch AR-HUD projects key driving information directly onto the windshield, while a 15.6-inch central screen with split-view capability enhances convenience. The vehicle also offers low-energy sentry mode and customizable smartphone-based scenario settings.
