SHANGHAI — Buick today announced the launch of the all-electric ENCASA MPV, expanding its flagship MPV lineup with a dual powertrain offering that now includes both plug-in hybrid and all-electric variants.
Positioned as a luxury MPV for modern families, the ENCASA EV builds on the strengths of its plug-in hybrid counterpart while introducing new electric technologies, including a 900V 6C ultra-fast charging system, enhanced safety engineering and a refined ownership experience.
With this launch, Buick further strengthens its MPV portfolio in China, becoming the only brand to offer a full MPV lineup across gasoline, plug-in hybrid and all-electric powertrains.
The ENCASA EV, priced RMB 489,900, is now available for order through Buick’s official platforms and dealerships nationwide.
Advanced Electric Performance and Charging Capability
The ENCASA EV is the first MPV globally to feature a 900V 6C ultra-fast charging system, paired with a 96 kWh battery pack, delivering a CLTC-rated range of 601 kilometers.
With peak charging power of up to 640 kW, the vehicle can charge from 10% to 80% in approximately 11.5 minutes under optimal conditions, supporting both daily commuting and longer-distance travel with greater convenience.
The ENCASA EV adopts Buick’s signature “Land Jet” design language and achieves a low drag coefficient of 0.258 Cd, contributing to efficiency, reduced energy consumption and a quieter cabin environment. It also introduces a dual-tone matte gray exterior finish, the first of its kind in the MPV segment, enabled by a 12-layer painting process, delivering a refined and understated expression of flagship luxury.
Intelligent Driving and Premium Experience
The ENCASA EV is equipped with Buick’s advanced Xiaoyao Zhixing driver assistance system, designed to support both urban and highway driving scenarios. Built on the Momenta R6 reinforcement learning model, the system enables navigation-assisted driving in complex environments without reliance on high-definition maps.
Inside, the vehicle offers a spacious three-row layout with a focus on comfort for all passengers, combined with premium materials and a refined cabin experience consistent with Buick’s flagship positioning.
Safety as the Foundation of Electric Mobility
The ENCASA EV is developed with a strong focus on safety, reflecting the role of MPVs in transporting families.
The vehicle is equipped with GM’s dedicated battery platform, validated across billions of kilometers of real-world driving and more than 40,000 hours of testing under demanding conditions. The battery system features a reinforced structural design and advanced thermal management to enhance durability and safety.
The body structure incorporates a high-strength steel ratio of 78% and is engineered to meet GM’s stringent global safety standards, improving crash protection and overall structural rigidity.
A Legacy of Leadership in China’s MPV Market
Since the introduction of the GL8 in 1999, Buick has played a defining role in China’s premium MPV segment. Over more than two decades, the nameplate has earned the trust of more than 2 million customers.
In 2025, Buick ranked No. 1 in China’s MPV market by annual sales, with new energy vehicles accounting for more than 50% of total MPV sales. The ENCASA lineup has continued to gain traction in the luxury MPV segment, reflecting strong customer demand and market acceptance.
