Buick launched the all-new Verano Pro and its sporty GS variants in China.
SHANGHAI – Buick introduced the Verano Pro in China this evening. The all-new midsize premium sports sedan is tailored to meet the needs and lifestyles of Generation Z, offering expressive styling, dynamic performance and an elevated user experience that aim to make every journey a joyful experience for young trendsetting individuals.
The Verano Pro will also be available with the GS appearance package that reinforces Buick’s sporty persona. It will include darkened exterior touches and a wide range of options for modification to fulfill personalized preferences. The nameplate will enhance Buick’s presence in the most popular midsize sedan segment.
Five variants, including two GS models, with a choice of six exterior colors and three interior colors, will be available with a price range from RMB 129,900 to RMB 158,900.
Dynamic and Expressive Exterior
Expanding Buick’s sculptural beauty DNA, the all-new Verano Pro has athletic and linear styling that is full of character.
The sculptural front fascia incorporates Buick’s modern iconic grille, offering a strong sporty visual impression. The Verano Pro’s sleek body line is reinforced by its long hood, fast-back roof and special rear spoiler, which also optimizes aerodynamics. The redesigned side character line further highlights the agility of the exterior.
As the latest entry in Buick’s GS lineup, the Verano Pro GS features exclusive design elements that include a distinct large black mesh grille that projects an advanced and sporty image. It also comes with black painted door mirrors and window accents and an optional black roof. When paired with darkened five-spoke wheels and a body bumper sports package with a grey finish, the two-tone color combination further boosts the vehicle’s sporty appearance and delivers a sense of power.
In order to fulfill the personalized needs of younger buyers, a variety of body parts on the Verano Pro GS, including the side-skirt, spoiler, lower cladding and fenders in the front and rear, are all exchangeable. This gives customers more choices and enhances the DIY appeal of the vehicle.
Premium and Sporty Interior
At the heart of the Verano Pro’s premium and multi-layered interior is a segment-leading dual 10.25-inch full LED instrument cluster and touchscreen center display that are fully integrated. Featuring 1,920 x 720 high resolution, the interfaces can be connected for a synchronized display of media, phone calls and navigation functions, for the greater convenience that trendsetting individuals in the highly digitalized world expect.
The Verano Pro’s interior features premium materials for a high level of comfort and refinement. The unique 3D sporty seats and three-spoke steering wheel emphasize the sportiness of the cabin. On the top trim of the GS variant, racing-inspired seats are covered in black faux suedette with contrasting red stitching and a rhombus perforated design for a striking appearance. Adding to the sophistication and uniqueness is the signature GS badging extensively applied inside the cabin on door trims, the shift lever, carpet and other areas.
The Verano Pro provides a pleasant riding experience for all occupants, with spacious headroom and legroom, and a flat floor in the second row. It comes with 26 storage spaces and up to 1,150 liters of cargo space when the rear seats are folded flat, creating versatility for diverse needs.
High-Performance and Efficient Powertrain
The Verano Pro is the first model powered by GM’s all-new 1.5T turbocharged Ecotec engine. Paired with an advanced continuously variable transmission (CVT), it generates a segment-leading 135 kW of maximum power and 250 Nm of peak torque at an engine speed of between 1,500 and 5,000 rpm. Acceleration from 0-100 km/h can be achieved in 7.7 seconds. The powertrain delivers fuel consumption as low as 5.95 liters/100 kilometers.
Built on GM's global engine architecture with a modular design, the new four-cylinder engine integrates a wide range of cutting-edge technologies, making it more powerful, intelligent and quieter than before. The innovative features contributing to engine responsiveness and optimized fuel efficiency include a 35MPa high-pressure spark ignition direct injection (SIDI) fuel system and active thermal management system that can intelligently control the flow of coolant.
Incorporating pioneering technologies such as a neural network and deep learning, the 1.5T engine’s strong performance is also underpinned by advanced software capabilities. The latest-generation ECM improves computing power by 14%, and offers 33% more internal storage capability and enhanced safety.
The Verano Pro is also equipped with an optimized MacPherson front suspension. Matched with a multi-link twist-beam rear suspension, it improves stability, with precise handling, for a comfortable and smooth ride.
Advanced Connectivity and Safety Features
Buick’s latest eConnect 3.0 infotainment system, which serves as a digital companion, has a user-friendly interface, intuitive operation and advanced connectivity that reward all the senses of users. The all-new UI design of the Verano Pro’s pioneering widescreen cockpit has a fresh look and enables personalized settings with various themes.
Through the support of iFlytek, China's top artificial intelligence voice expert, the Verano Pro’s intuitive human-machine voice interaction has improved recognition accuracy and is capable of voice interruption, multi-round interaction and multiple dialect options for more natural dialogue. The vehicle also supports cloud-based music, radio, news, audio books and various in-car infotainment features through in-vehicle apps, allowing passengers to enjoy a pleasant and connected in-vehicle user experience.
The Verano Pro can access Apple CarPlay and Baidu CarLife, and supports Super ID for seamless connectivity between the vehicle and smartphones. Real-time navigation via AutoNavi enables intelligent route-setting functionality, additional destinations along the trip and navigation for walking the last kilometer.
In addition, the Verano Pro is designed to provide a high level of safety through an array of active safety and advanced driver assist features. They include the latest version of Automatic Parking Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Front Collision Assist, High-Beam Assist and Pedestrian Detection. Leveraging 12 ultrasonic radars, the Verano Pro and GS provide all-around monitoring of the surroundings within 1.5 meters to eliminate blind zones.
