LIUZHOU – SAIC-GM-Wuling today officially added the Gameboy Edition to the Hong Guang MINIEV family in China, following last April’s launch of the Wuling Hong Guang MINIEV Macaron, which has primarily attracted female customers. Men have accounted for 77% of the more than 30,000 customers making pre-orders for the Gameboy Edition since March 9.
Four variants of the Gameboy Edition featuring improved EV range options of 200 km and 300 km are available for between RMB 55,800 and RMB 69,800. The Gameboy Edition has a 3.3-kW charger and a 30-kW drive motor.
The four-seater’s dimensions have also been upgraded. It has a length of 3,061 mm, width of 1,520 mm, and height of 1,659 mm and 1,665 mm depending on its EV range, as well as an expanded wheelbase of 2,010 mm.
The Wuling Hong Guang MINIEV family has been the best-selling new energy vehicle (NEV) in China – the world’s largest NEV market – since its launch in July 2020. Last year, it was also the most popular NEV sold worldwide for five months. Its cumulative retail sales in China have surpassed 600,000 units.
Additional members of the Hong Guang MINIEV lineup are on the way. Production of the Hong Guang MINIEV Cabrio convertible featuring a folding soft top is expected to begin later this year.
