Cadillac Announces Chinese Name and Additional Variants of LYRIQ

2022-05-16

Cadillac today announced the Chinese name of the LYRIQ, Ruige, along with details of the three variants that will be available in the domestic market. The brand will soon begin taking orders for its first all-electric vehicle.

The innovative spirit has always been part of Cadillac’s DNA. The Chinese name, Rui (pioneering and cutting edge) ge (song), was inspired by the brand’s enduring progressiveness and rich connection to the arts, especially music. Leveraging Cadillac’s 120-year heritage and industry-leading innovative technology, the LYRIQ represents the beginning of an all-new luxury EV lineup for Cadillac that is desired by its customers and will allow them to embark on extraordinary journeys.

“The reveal of the LYRIQ’s Chinese name is an important milestone, as we are on track to ship it to domestic customers,” said Chris Biggs, vice president of Cadillac in China. “We expect it will resonate with a new generation of luxury car buyers in China who share Cadillac’s bold and pioneering spirit for an inspiring future.”

The LYRIQ is an electric SUV empowered by GM’s revolutionary Ultium platform. The three variants that will be offered in China are the rear-wheel-drive long-range Luxury model that began presales last year, the rear-wheel-drive long-range Prestige model and the four-wheel-drive high-performance Prestige model. They will fulfill customers’ diverse preferences.

Liberating performance

The performance-oriented four-wheel-drive variant comes with permanent magnet drive units on the front and rear axles to provide extra power and elevated driving dynamics. It delivers up to 375 kW of power and 710 Nm of torque, enabling 0-100 km/h acceleration in only 4.9 seconds, and a China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC) EV range of over 600 km on a full charge. The four-wheel drive variant’s liberating driving performance will make the LYRIQ stand out among mid-large SUVs. With its fast-charging capability across the EV lifespan, it will fully meet the mobility needs for inter-city travel.

The rear-wheel-drive variants have a CLTC range of 653 km on a full charge. With a permanent magnet drive unit on the rear axle, they generate up to 255 kW of power and 440 Nm of torque for enhanced agility and handling. The rear-wheel-drive variants can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 6.35 seconds.

Refined luxury

The LYRIQ’s artfully integrated technology and premium craftsmanship are designed to set a new luxury standard.

The Prestige models will continue to raise the bar for unmatched comfort, with premium materials and appointments. They have an updated two-piece power glass roof that provides extra convenience and ambience. Inside the cabin, the adoption of perforated Nappa leather and a choice of two new interior colors support a prestigious and comfortable ride.

Additional features available in the Prestige models include an upgraded power steering wheel, independent air-conditioning controls with a second-row LED display, a power heated second-row passenger seat, and air quality monitoring and allergy filtering to ensure a safe and comfortable travel experience.
