2023-11-17

SHANGHAI – Cadillac today continued to build its EV momentum with the launch of a new variant of the LYRIQ all-electric SUV and a sneak peek at an all-new Cadillac EV, the OPTIQ, at the 2023 Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition (Auto Guangzhou).

The new rear-wheel-drive (RWD) Standard Range Luxury variant of the LYRIQ will be priced at RMB 297,700 and RMB 317,700 with the addition of the Super Cruise driver assist feature.

“The arrival of the latest entry of the LYRIQ family, together with the unveil of the OPTIQ, represents our full commitment to further expand the IQ EV family and pivot to an all-electric future,” said Tim Heile, Vice President of Cadillac at General Motors China and General Director of Cadillac Sales and Marketing at SAIC-GM.

“As the world’s largest EV market, China is strategically important for Cadillac. By the end of next year, Cadillac will introduce more new EVs in China in addition to a rejuvenated internal combustion engine vehicle portfolio as the brand strives to fulfill customers’ diverse preferences and reinvent luxury mobility.”

The LYRIQ is the cornerstone of Cadillac’s future. Since deliveries began in China, the nameplate has set a new benchmark in the domestic luxury EV segment. It particularly appeals to customers through its bold design, superior driving dynamics and pioneering technology, along with its electric package underpinned by the Ultium platform.

The all-new RWD Standard Range Luxury variant of the LYRIQ has an EV range of 502 km under CLTC test conditions, with energy consumption as low as 14.4 kW/100 km. It takes around 33 minutes to recover the battery capacity from 20% to 80%, making it perfect for daily commuting.

The RWD permanent magnet motor delivers maximum power of 250 kW and peak torque of 440 Nm. The new variant provides an engaging ride and responsive handling, with 0-100 km/h acceleration of 5.9 seconds.

While expanding its EV portfolio, Cadillac is also elevating the luxury EV customer experience through a comprehensive EV ecosystem that ranges from enhanced charging infrastructure to intelligent driving and connectivity over-the-air (OTA) updates.

Besides the Super Cruise driver assist technology designed for comparable roads such as highways, the new RWD Standard Range Luxury variant will be offered with Hands-on Lane Centering Assist, which expands the enhanced intelligent and comfortable driving experience on public roads.

A new round of OTA updates will be initiated by the end of this year to keep LYRIQ customers updated with additional intelligent connectivity features such as enriched voice assistance, third-party applications, and a robust suite of gaming, audio and visual resources.

As a further benefit, selected Tesla supercharging and destination charging sites in the Chinese mainland will be added to Cadillac’s self-operated charging network beginning at the end of this year. LYRIQ customers will be able to locate, navigate to, pay for and initiate charging sessions at Tesla facilities via the Cadillac IQ App.

Through additional partnerships with the China Southern Power Grid and China’s State Grid Corp., Cadillac EV customers will enjoy access to over 550,000 charging poles across 320 cities nationwide for seamless and enhanced charging convenience by year end.

Auto Guangzhou runs from November 17-26. The Cadillac stand is in Hall 2.1 of the China Import and Export Fair Pazhou Complex.
